CGA Policy on Member-Led Book Groups, Affinity Groups and Other Community Activities

CGA members are welcomed and encouraged to form local unpaid book groups of up to 12 weeks to share the CGA book in person with members of their community.  Those who lead such groups explicitly agree that they will refer interested parties into CGA classes and memberships, rather than creating alternative paid structures to support those members, once the 12 weeks ends. These groups must meet in-person, not online, to clearly distinguish themselves from CGA's online offerings.

CGA members are welcomed and encouraged to form affinity groups made up of current CGA members, for the purpose of connecting members with certain commonalities (e.g. geographic region, age group, spiritual practices, similar occupations). These affinity groups must be open to active CGA members or class participants only. This does the following:

  1. Keeps CGA aware of all affinity groups so we may refer other participants into them,
  2. Helps ensure that the affinity group facilitator can remain a peer, rather than becoming a de facto CGA leader, and allows CGA to be able to continue to support that leader,
  3. Helps affinity group members continue to interact using the CGA tools and principles,
  4. Allows affinity group members to discuss current CGA homework or topics without sharing proprietary material with non-members.
